A product of Miami Central High School, Ezekiel was one of the Hurricanes’ most coveted linebacker targets in the 2025 recruiting class. The recruitment was well-earned. Ezekiel had a breakout sophomore season in 2022, helping lead Central to a 14-0 record and a Florida 2M State Championship, posting 79 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass breakup. As a team captain his junior year, he led the Rockets with 109 tackles, added 19 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and forced two fumbles. By the time signing day arrived, Rivals had him ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 16 linebacker in the country. He chose Miami over a list of suitors that included Penn State, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Stanford.

Coaches described Ezekiel as a linebacker with “physicality and relentlessness” who is “in a mold of his own” — high praise from a program that has built one of the nation’s premier defenses. That assessment fits perfectly within the identity that head coach Mario Cristobal has worked to build in Coral Gables. Cristobal has long emphasized that “discipline and physicality are always at the forefront” of what makes a winning football team, and Ezekiel embodies both qualities in every snap he takes. A Miami source also pointed to Marcelin’s football intelligence as a key differentiator, calling him a “tackling machine” — a player who doesn’t just rely on athleticism, but processes the game at a level that sets him apart from his peers.
