Legend Agency is proud to announce the signing of Damion Hahn, Head Wrestling Coach of the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits. While Legend Agency has deep roots in football representation, we have always been committed to representing elite competitors and leaders across all sports and Damion Hahn is exactly that. A two-time national champion as an athlete, a builder of champions as a coach, and a proven developer of young men both on and off the mat, we are honored to welcome Damion to the family.
As a collegiate wrestler at the University of Minnesota, Damion was nothing short of dominant. He won NCAA individual national titles as a junior and senior, was a four-time All-American, a three-time Big Ten individual champion, and was named the Jesse Owens Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year in 2004. The Golden Gophers won team NCAA championships during both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and Damion finished his collegiate career with an outstanding 118-21 record. Before his time at Minnesota, he was a three-time New Jersey state champion wrestling out of Lakewood High School, a foundation of excellence that would set the tone for everything that followed. He was later inducted into the University of Minnesota’s M Club Hall of Fame in 2018, cementing his place among the Gophers’ all-time greats.
After hanging up his singlet, Damion transitioned seamlessly into coaching and quickly established himself as one of the finest minds in the sport. He spent 12 years on the coaching staff at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, first as an assistant and later as associate head coach, during which the Big Red recorded 11 top-10 team finishes at the NCAA Championships, including consecutive runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2011. He mentored 50 All-Americans, 12 of whom were individual NCAA champions, while Cornell won 12 straight Ivy League dual championships and 11 consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association team titles. It was a coaching tenure that rivaled the accomplishments of any program in the country.
In April 2018, Damion was hired as Head Coach at South Dakota State University, where he has overseen a successful and sustained rebuilding of the Jackrabbits’ program. Entering the 2025-26 season with a 72-38 career dual record, he has coached 11 All-Americans and 47 NCAA qualifiers during his tenure in Brookings. The Jackrabbits have put together back-to-back 13-4 seasons in the Big 12, and in the 2023-24 season tied SDSU’s best-ever finish in the conference, placing third. Most recently, SDSU reached a program-high No. 8 national ranking, a milestone that speaks to the culture and standard Damion has built in Brookings. And the excellence extends well beyond the mat: his teams have earned Top 30 Scholar Team All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association for five consecutive seasons, with the 2023-24 squad ranking fourth among all Division I programs with a 3.54 team GPA.
